The Power of Reflection

It can be a challenge finding the optimal balance between looking back, living in the present and planning for the future. I know first-hand how all-consuming reflecting on past experiences can be, trying to understand them or change the outcome even though intellectually I know this isn't possible as the past is simply the past.

At the same time I have felt empowered by reflecting on the past in a more positive light - where I have come from and where I want to head.

I found some quiet time today to reflect on the questions below and I had some "wow moments" going through the process. I wanted to share these with you as you may also find them beneficial:

  1. What have I learnt over the last 12 months (new skills, knowledge and insight have I gained)?
  2. What has been my biggest accomplishment to date?
  3. What might I do differently if given a second chance? Why?
  4. What am I particularly proud of?
  5. What am I most thankful for?
  6. How am I different now than I was this time last year?
  7. What motivates me?
  8. What gives me energy?
  9. What am I striving for?
  10. What is most important to me?
