When you experience challenging times in your life, it can be another challenge to hold onto hope. To have an optimistic state of mind that a positive outcome is possible. When life throws you a curveball, and you are struggling, it can sometimes seem that all that is in front of you is more pain and heartache. That there isn’t a way forward. You might even wonder how you will navigate your way through these challenging times.
I have found that holding onto hope is the key. I lost all hope once. As I write about in my book, "I had completely given up on the hope for a better life. I simply couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. I rarely had times — even just a few minutes — where my thoughts weren’t preoccupied with the dark world I lived in." This resulted in me choosing a handful of pills over life. Fortunately, I lived, and have gone on to learn a number of life skills which have stood me in good stead for when life throws me another curveball.
Hope. It is a conscious choice. A choice to believe you will get through the heartache. A choice to believe that the pain will ease and that you will live to enjoy a better life.
"Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future" Robert H. Schuller
Life has a strange way of working out in your favour. I have come to trust the process of life and that everything happens for a reason. This contributes to my hope that I am exactly where I am meant to be, even during times when it is the last place I want to be.
You will discover what works for you during the challenging times in your life. If you haven’t already explored hope then I encourage you to do so. It can provide you with the strength you need to take just one more step towards a brighter future.
